AxyomCore has been named a finalist in the 2026 Glotel Awards by Telecoms.com for 5G Innovation of the Year for its cloud native 5G core and work with Telenor on Autonomous Edge.
The Glotel Awards recognize innovation and excellence across the global telecommunications industry, highlighting the companies and technologies helping shape the future of telecom.
AxyomCore’s selection recognizes a new approach to 5G network resilience that can help keep remote communities and critical services connected even when connectivity to the central network is disrupted.
In remote and high risk environments, storms, fiber cuts, extreme geography and other disruptions can interrupt connectivity to centralized network infrastructure. A distributed 5G architecture can help operators address this challenge by extending core capabilities closer to the edge.
AxyomCore’s Cloud Native 5G Core enables an edge core to remain synchronized with the central network during normal operations while providing the ability to automatically assume control if connectivity to the central core is lost.
Rather than operating with limited connectivity or entering a degraded mode, the remote site can continue functioning as a complete 5G network without manual intervention. This helps maintain critical voice, data and operational services even during prolonged network isolation.
The technology has important potential applications across remote communities, public safety environments, industrial sites and other mission critical operations where maintaining connectivity during a network disruption is essential.
Local traffic anchoring and breakout can also keep data closer to users and applications, reducing latency for services such as real time video, remote control and monitoring.
These capabilities have been demonstrated through work with Telenor on an Autonomous Edge deployment spanning approximately 2,000 kilometers between Fornebu and Svalbard.
By distributing intelligence and control closer to the edge, operators can reduce dependence on centralized infrastructure and the operational risk associated with a single point of network failure.
As 5G supports more critical infrastructure and distributed applications, architectures capable of maintaining services during network disruption will become increasingly important.
Being named a finalist for 5G Innovation of the Year recognizes AxyomCore’s continued work to give operators a more resilient and flexible foundation for deploying 5G services in environments where reliable connectivity matters most.
The winners of the 2026 Glotel Awards will be announced on December 1 in London.
We’re proud to see AxyomCore recognized alongside leading companies and solutions from across the global telecommunications industry and congratulate the entire AxyomCore team on being named a finalist.
