Fixed Wireless Access

Zero cables, more possibilities. Deliver scalable broadband with high-performance FWA
5G Wireless

Broadband does not need to stop where the cable does

Fiber, cable and DSL are effective, but not always practical. Extending them into remote, low-density or newly developed areas can take time, money and a lot of digging.

Fixed Wireless Access uses mobile infrastructure to deliver broadband faster and with far more flexibility. It gives operators another route to market, without recreating a fixed network from scratch.

5G Fixed Wireless Access: How it works

FWA delivers broadband to homes and businesses over 5G rather than through fiber or cable. A customer premises device connects to the mobile network, while 5G core network functions such as the AMF, SMF and UPF manage access, sessions and traffic routing.

The AMF handles device registration and mobility, the SMF manages user sessions, and the UPF routes user traffic to the internet or enterprise applications. Together with policy and quality of service controls, these functions allow operators to deliver secure, reliable and high-speed broadband using flexible, scalable mobile infrastructure.
