Each component of our 5G Core—from the Access & Mobility Management Function (AMF) to the User Plane Function (UPF)—is engineered to maximize efficiency and performance, ensuring a seamless transition and operation within next-generation networks. Discover how each element contributes to our cloud-native architecture, delivering unparalleled reliability, resource efficiency, and interoperability to meet the evolving demands of modern telecommunications.
Function (SMF)
The 5G Session Management Function (SMF) is a fundamental element of the 5G Service-Based Architecture handling session management, IP address allocation and policy enforcement.
Cloud Native
Cloud native microservices-based architecture ensures high performance and scalability.
Reliability and Resiliency
Supports carrier class reliability and resiliency.
Flexible User Plane Architecture
Supports multiple options for user plane deployment and session continuity.
Optimal Control
Supports policy, charging control and enforcement and interworks with legacy systems.
Function (UPF)
The 5G User Plane Function (UPF) allows maximum data processing at the network edge, increasing overall service delivery through a Control Plan User Plan Separated (CUPS) architecture.
Multi-Access Support
Converged UPF supports multi-access and Steering, Switching/Splitting across wireless/wireline broadband connections, allowing you to reach users anywhere they travel.
Run Anywhere
The ultimate deployment flexibility supported from any cloud, virtual machine (VM), bare metal and even white box switches.
Feature Rich
Support of the latest 3GPP releases as well as a broad set of customizable features.
The Access & Mobility Management Function (AMF) manages the registration, connection and mobility management between the network and devices.
Cloud Native
Cloud native microservices based architecture ensures high performance and scalability.
Reliability and Resiliency
Supports carrier class reliability and resiliency.
Improved Resource Efficiency
State optimized design ensures efficient subscriber and device connectivity
Interoperability with Legacy Nodes
Support interoperability between 5G and 4G MME node.
Repository Function (NRF)
The Network Repository Function (NRF) allows every network function to discover the services offered by other network functions.
Cloud Native
Cloud-native microservices-based architecture ensures high performance and scalability.
Scalable, Flexible and Efficient
Works as a centralized repository to increase the efficiency, scalability, and flexibility of the 5G core network.
Resource Control
Helps CSPs to effectively manage their 5G core network by providing automated resource control in the core.
Faster Set-Up
Improves 5G network by eliminating the need for network configuration every time a new network function is added to the network.
Selection Function (NSSF)
The Network Slice Selection Function (NSSF) enables the selection of the Network Slice instances that will serve a particular device. Network slicing allows operators to support diverse services for specific customers on a common network platform.
Cloud Native
Cloud-native microservices-based architecture ensures high performance and scalability.
Reliability and Resiliency
Supports carrier class reliability and resiliency.
Network Slice Selection Service
NSSF supports the Network Slice Selection service and availability service.
Feature Rich
Support of the latest 3GPP releases as well as a broad set of customizable features.
Function (N3IWF)
Networks grow and evolve over time. Upgrading to 5G doesn’t mean stranding previous investment. Non-3GPP Interworking Function (N3IWF) provides a bridge between untrusted non-3GPP networks and the 5G Core.
Bridging Technology Types
N3IWF supports both N2 and N3 based connectivity to the core, as well as IPSec connectivity towards the device allowing cross functional access to technologies like WiFi.
High Performance, Small Footprint
Significant scalability in the design allows the Interworking Function to provide a large amount of bandwidth support on a very small resource footprint.
Handover Support
Not only does the Interworking Function support the bridging of technology, it provides real time operations like handover between 5G and WiFi.
Feature Rich
Support of the latest 3GPP releases as well as a broad set of customizable features
Proxy (SCP)
The Service Communication Proxy (SCP) is a central component of the 5G core that simplifies and harmonizes critical network functions.
Feature Rich
Performs critical functions including signaling aggregation and routing, harmonization for ease of multi-vendor integration, message prioritization to increase network throughput and more.
Load Balancing & Overload Handling
With a complete network view, the SCP can balance and distribute signal loads avoiding overload situations.
